About Us

Navy League History

President Theodore Roosevelt founded United States Navy League in 1902. The Puerto Vallarta chapter was legally constituted as a non-profit organization in 2006. It was founded by retired Americans twenty years ago who desired to collaborate in the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of Puerto Vallarta. The geographical location of this port allows assistance and medical supplies for distribution to be brought into Mexico by sea, substantially lowering transportation costs..

Puerto Vallarta Navy League A.C. Mission Statement

The United States of America is a maritime nation. Its national defense and economic well being are dependent upon strong sea services. The Puerto Vallarta Navy League is a non-profit, civilian organization dedicated to supporting the sea services of the United States, Canada, México, and other friendly countries. You need not be a veteran to belong. We seek to provide a positive difference to the citizens of Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas through activities such as our COMREL, Community Relations, and Toys For Tots programs.

The organization’s objective is to provide social assistance to needy children and young Mexican people. This organization is non-profit and has no political or religious affiliation.

The Puerto Vallarta Navy League, AC, founded in 1994, is a non-profit service organization registered in both Mexico and the US, dedicated to the support of the sea services of friendly nations  and  contributing to the well-being of the people of Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay area through the hosting of visiting mariners from ships from the US Navy, the US Coast Guard and other visiting Navies, and the conduct of Community Service activities that assist local charitable and civic causes.

1. Assist and donate medical, orthopedic and diagnostic implements and equipment to non-profit social welfare associations and medical institutions to benefit the most vulnerable inhabitants of the region.

2. Improve facilities and equipment of schools and public areas of community recreation.

3. Distribute toys. Through our Toys for Tots program, we have distributed over 100,000 toys to local boys and girls. In addition, we have installed nine playgrounds in the past 2 years.
